Easy to grow self sowing annual. Excellent for quick color in beds and wildflower gardens. Perfect for attracting butterflies. Long bloom period .Prefers cool areas but does well in sun. Best grown enmasse (large group)for a stunning focal point. The flowers appearance is delicate, but the plants are actually quite hardy and will self sow without that weedy appearance.
Instructions
Sow 1 to 2 cm deep. Germination 10 to 15 days. You can sow Shirley Double Mix poppy seeds at two week intervals from late February to mid-April for flowers from mid- to late summer. Easy to grow and care for. If you intend to collect the seed for eating, wait until seed pods have completely dried on the plant. You will see the pod has formed little openings, like a salt shaker signaling the seed, is ripe and ready for harvest.
