This stunning dahlia has strong stems make spectacular cut flowers. The bees and butterflies flock to it for food and shelter. It will flower from its first year. Sow indoors early for a head start or direct sow in well drained but moist and sunny location. It will eventually form into a tuber that you can dig up to over winter or if you live in an area with milder weather and well drained soil, you can leave it in the ground. Often people in the milder climates will apply a thick layer of mulch over where it is planted just to ensure its survival should temperatures drop. People in colder climates are recommended to dig up the tuber, clean it off and store it indoors in paper bags in a cool dry dark location.
