Anise is native to the Mediterranean that attracts a host of Black Swallowtail butterflies. Anise grows 18 - 24 inches tall with umbels of lacey white flowers that is also high attractive to bees. Anise prefers light, loamy, sandy soils. Use the leaves in salads, soups and stews or grows for the seeds. All parts of the Anise plant have a light sweet licorice flavour.

Direct sow in early Spring or transplant when young. Direct sowing is preferred but if you do transplant do not disturb the roots for best result. Germinates in 10 to 21 days.
