Plant cucumbers in full sun, in well drained soil rich in organic matter Raised beds or mounds are suggested. This allows teh soil to retain heat throughout the season that cucumbers thrive on. Adding several inches of aged compost and or aged manure into the planting beds before sowing or transplanting. Throughout the season, side-dress plant with aged compost. Compost is nutrient-rich and moisture retentive and will help feed the cucumber, assisting it to produce it bountiful harvest.
